The surf camp Tenerife is ideal for everyone who wants to intensively hone their surfing skills. Here you have the chance to get into the water with big wave pro Alex Zirke.
Tanesa Dalby, is Alex's business partner and significant other. She also takes care of all matters around the house and also offers very exciting surf therapy projects!
If you don't feel like herd surfing and want to learn how to surf properly, then you've come to the right place! This camp is located in the center of north Tenerife. It is a very special surf school made up of a small group of elite athletes who have turned their passion into a profession. Together they want to pass on their knowledge and experience from more than 30 years of surfing practice. Their philosophy is to teach real surfing! Surf in tune with all the elements! Here you will be shown how to read the wind and the waves, how to pay attention to nature, how to deal with the locals, improve your surfing technique and learn new manoeuvres.
In order to convey this optimally, multilingual teachers teach in very small groups, with a maximum of three students. One of the surfing instructors at Surfcamp Tenerife is Alexander Zirke – former German surfing champion and big wave surfer!
Tenerife North
The camp is located in a small, cozy place in the northeast of the Canary Island of Tenerife called Tacaronte. It is a district of the large municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which is characterized by the wine-growing region. It houses quiet holiday homes and fincas with pool or holiday apartments.
There are different settlement centers and a beautiful old town with a church.
It's a very familiar neighborhood of locals which gives it a special flair. Away from mass tourism and right in a city with the local population you will get to know the real Tenerife.
Hike:
The new and well signposted hiking trail to Chinamada is a must on Tenerife. A hike along the sea is also recommended: past the lighthouse, banana plantations and a pilgrimage church with a view of the three peaks that rise out of the sea behind Taganana.
Eat fish:
The fishermen's association restaurant is the address for super good fish for lunch. This restaurant on the promenade is an absolute culinary must-do for vacationers. But there are also some other good restaurants and nice tapas bars.
Snorkeling:
Enjoy the underwater world in the reefs off the coast of Tenerife! The biodiversity of the different animals is unique and definitely a highlight of your holiday!
Alex
The bigger the better. In his home country of Tenerife, Alex Zirke fearlessly slammed into the Atlantic's biggest bangers. The great thing about him is that despite the big wave skills, his ego has remained small and humble and he is one of the most relaxed and cool guys we know!

Tanessa
is Alex's partner and helps wherever there is a need. Tanessa is a state-approved educator and psychologist (M.Sc) with a focus on clinical psychology and psychological empowerment. She is also a sports and fun cannon. This makes them the perfect match and they are a great team to look forward to.
2-bed room
There are two of these single bed rooms in total. Perfect for 2 friends who would like to have their own bed. Of course, these rooms can also be given to two single travelers. The bathroom is shared with the second single bed double room and another guest from the single room.
The single bed rooms are on the ground floor of the house.
Double room with own bath
There are 3 double rooms located in the main house. Everything is completely newly renovated with light walls and comfortable bed linen. Feeling good is pre-programmed here and of course desired.
It is a king size bed. Enough space for both of them to be able to stretch and stretch completely.
Single Room
This room is ideal for those traveling alone who really want to have their peace and quiet.
The bathroom is shared with the two single bed double rooms.
The single room is on the ground floor of the house.
Suite
The suite is like a self-contained little house. The large bathroom in the suite even has an incredibly comfortable bathtub! From the bedroom with the large double bed you have a direct view of your own balcony and the garden.
This room offers a relaxing holiday in a class of its own!
Shared room
The 4-person dorm is ideal for single travelers or groups who would like to save a little on accommodation or spend most of the day outside and would rather go out to eat a few more times. This room is very cozy and minimalistic so that everyone has enough space for their belongings.
Our taster course for those who don't yet know exactly whether surfing is right for them or who simply want to have more free time to explore the beautiful island of Tenerife.
Surf for 2 hours on 3 days. Learn the basic steps of surfing and still have plenty of time to discover the island of Tenerife besides surfing. Of course it is possible to extend your surf course and switch to a 5-day surf course.
Lesson times are adjusted depending on the waves, wind and tides, depending on ability and requirements. There are a maximum of 3 surf students per course.

He is one of the best German surfers! The German champion from 2012 knows the spots by heart and gives you very helpful tips on how to improve your skills or take the first steps in surfing! Fun and success are pre-programmed in his courses!
Fran
The certified surf and bodyboard instructor loves to bring his knowledge and passion closer to the students and to inspire them for this great sport. In addition to surfing and bodyboarding, he is also a passionate snowboarder!
Vilayta
The likeable Spaniard has more than 30 years of surfing experience! Not only in big wave surfing, but also with the SUPs he is an ace. You can learn a lot from him. He is also a passionate fisherman and diver - so his life takes place almost exclusively in the water.
The surf school in the north of Tenerife is one of our best surf schools. The small group of elite athletes and pro surfers turned their passion into a profession and realized their dream of their own surf school. They pass on more than 30 years of surfing experience to the surfing students.
The philosophy: to teach real surfing! Surf in tune with all the elements! In addition to practice in the water, you will also be taught theory on the beach.

1. Description & Focus
Physical and mental health go hand in hand. Surf therapy combines proven clinical psychological methods with surfing on river waves or on the sea. It is a structured psychological support that does not take place sitting in chairs, but on the surfboard and in nature. It offers you the opportunity to work on individual stresses, conflicts and behavioral patterns in a professional setting by learning how to surf. The treatment goals and thus the selection of the module topics to be treated are worked out together with the participants and the commissioning organization.
The program comprises ten different modules that focus on different topics. Due to the modular structure, it is possible to put together a completely individual program.
Special physical requirements are not necessary, you should only be able to swim.

2. Procedure and goal of surf therapy
PROCESS
Depending on the conditions that the ocean offers us, we strive for a surf therapy session every day. This consists of a preparatory lesson on the beach, an hour of surfing together in the sea and a subsequent follow-up lesson. In the group setting, we deliberately keep the group sizes small (approx. 3 people per group), so that I or we can respond to each individual very individually in the water. In total, one unit will last about 3.5 hours. You have the rest of the time at your disposal to visit the beautiful island of Tenerife, to go on vacation or to do some surfing.
GOAL
The aim of this week is to get a deeper understanding of relevant personal thought and behavior patterns (“inner critic, inner child, healthy adult”) and to transfer the new strategies learned while surfing in dealing with these patterns into personal everyday life. Plus you learn how to surf by the sea from professionals.

With Alex you have an enormously experienced surfing instructor in the sea, who is one of the best instructors you can imagine when it comes to safety.

He is a clinical psychologist and one of our Riversurf instructors. His areas of specialization include health psychologist. Of course, Daniel also surfs in the sea if it is possible for him in terms of time.
Christof
is a cultural scientist. Christoph also appears as a riversurf instructor. Furthermore, Christoph works as a youth sports coach.
Security
In order to guarantee the safety of all our participants, a safety officer with experience in whitewater and first aid is present at every surfing session.
Passion
We want to combine our love for surfing and our passion for helping other people to create something new and innovative.
In order to expand the sports offer, a new skate park was opened in Matanza, which was built according to the latest trends: quarterpipe, ledges and a bowl are available for skaters. Skating is the perfect complement to surfing. It's not only a lot of fun, it also helps you to improve your surfing skills!
The view is of course unbeatable!!
Surf camp Tenerife is located in the north of the island. It is a perfect starting point for hikes in the Ananga Mountains, but also to Chinamada or Las Carboneras. The well signposted hiking trail in the direction of Chinamada has been redesigned.
A visit and hiking on the Teide (highest mountain in Spain, which resembles a lunar landscape) should definitely be on your to-do list!
As well as the natural pools in the volcanic rock of Garachico, the so-called Charcos, and maybe even the Barranco de Masca, which is considered one of the most beautiful hikes in Tenerife.
A hike along the sea is very relaxing and interesting: past the lighthouse, banana plantations and a pilgrimage church with a view of the three peaks that rise out of the sea behind Taganana.
At Surfcamp Tenerife you have the incredible opportunity to complete an apnea course, an apnea excursion or even a complete waterman training!
This is unique and not only offers you the opportunity to take on a sporting challenge, but also to learn a lot about your own body and to apply the knowledge you have learned on a psychological level in many areas of your life.
In addition to surfing, skating and hiking, another sport has established itself here: paragliding. Paragliders take off from the cliffs with their colorful parasols, while the mighty waves of the Atlantic roar beneath them. What a picture!
Of course you can also dive and snorkel wonderfully. The offshore cliffs of Punta del Hidalgo were once part of a coral reef. With a bit of luck, you can still find red and brown coral fragments today. And when the tide is out you can see people lying in the puddles, enjoying the sun in the warm water: That's a very special kind of bathtub feeling! The Surfcamp Tenerife team will help you with the planning and organization of all activities.

There are different breakfast options at Surfcamp Tenerife. Surfing the waves of the Canary Island all day takes a lot of strength. That's why you should have a good breakfast in the morning - it's not for nothing that breakfast is called the most important meal of the day.
You will be served a rich breakfast every morning. You strengthen yourself with coffee or tea and feast on a large selection of fruit and bread. Because you can be sure of one thing: your hosts know what it takes to stay strong in the surf.

Courses are provided to the traveler as part of a group. The size of the group usually varies between 4 and 12 surfers depending on the demand. Classes are usually in German or English. Courses are limited for people with reduced mobility.

Payment: The down payment of 20% of the travel price is payable immediately and to be transferred to our account stating the invoice number, plus any immediately payable services, such as insurance, processing fees or stop and airport surcharges. The balance is to be transferred no later than 30 days before departure also under indication of the invoice number on our account. For bookings less than 4 weeks before departure, the entire amount is due immediately and send a screenshot of the transfer by e-mail to us to avoid reminder fees.
